Rev. Dr. Jerry M. Carter, Jr., a native of Columbus, Ohio, serves as the 14th Pastor Calvary Baptist Church of Morristown, New Jersey. He is an anointed theologian dedicated to clear communication of the Word of od in proclamation and written forms. In addition to his own congregation, he has shared the Gospel as a highly sought-after revivalist, keynote speaker, lecturer, and mentor throughout the country.
Dr. Carter’s influence is spread throughout three published works: The Empowered Life: Living Well on the Spirit; The Journey to Purpose: Navigating Your Spiritual Path; and his most recent work, Preaching Upstream: Reflections on Preaching and the Word of God in Current Times. He has also contributed to the New Interpreter’s Handbook of Preaching, Oxfords Sermons Volume III, Evangelizing the Black Male in the 21st Century and The African American Pulpit.
Rev. Carter continues to inform and shape the minds of those who seek theological education through adjunct assignments at Princeton Theological Seminary, Drew Theological School, and New Brunswick Theological Seminary, New Brunswick in New Jersey and The Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology in Richmond, Virginia.
He was trained at Dennison University in Granville, Ohio (BA); Princeton Theological Seminary (MDiv.); and Drew Theological School (Ph.D.). He is the host and founder of the “How Shall They Hear” Preaching Conference and President of the African American Clergy Association of Morris County in New Jersey.
He is also the proud father of three children, Jerry M. III, Zachary Daniel and Camille Ashley.
